Local Insight
Gairloch, with its fine sandy beaches, has been popular with visitors since Victorian times. It is still the main centre for exploring a of coastline, with attractions such as Inverewe Gardens at Poolewe. There are wonderful beaches all along this section of coast from Red Point in the south right up to Gruinard Bay in the north. Just as fine as the coastline is the hinterland of little-visited rocky mountains. The highest summits here are magnificent peaks, set well back from the road in one of Britain's remotest wilderness areas.
Torridon Sea Tours Experience the breathtaking beauty and spectacular coastline of Loch Torridon and the Hebridean Isle of Rona aboard the impressive, newly built Seaflower. Providing an excellent vantage point for the Torridon mountains, the Seaflower will take you to the wave swept outer loch and the sheltered bays along the inner loch to encounter a diverse range of species. Some of these may include the nearby nesting white-tailed sea eagle, puffin, gannet, great skua, great northern diver, porpoise, dolphin and the grey and common seal. Visit their website
Gairloch Marine Life Centre Located in one of the most picturesque areas in Wester Ross on the west coast of the Highlands where you will be spoilt for choice with so much to see and do. Come and join us on our daily boat cruises where you could see Harbour Porpoises, Whales, Grey and Common Seals and Dolphins, plus a huge variety of seabirds including White Tailed Eagles, Golden Eagles, Black-Throated Divers. Visitor centre with hands-on exhibits and wildlife viewing deck. Visit their website
Attadale Gardens Started by Baron Schroder in the late 19th century, hill paths meandered through 20 acres of conifers and rhododendrons. Totally transformed after the 1980 storms by owner Nicky Macpherson, it is an artist’s garden designed to frame the magnificent views of Skye and the surrounding hills. Waterfalls, Monet bridges, meconopsis, bamboo and candelabra primula are reflected in dark pools. Sculpture lurks in unexpected places. Visit their website
Gairloch Heritage Museum Housed in a complex of old farm buildings, Gairloch Heritage Museum is a record of life in the area from pre-history to the present day. The award-winning museum was established in 1977 and has much to offer both the casual visitor sheltering from the gentle Wester Ross rain, and the more serious student of history and Highland life. Children and adults will love the working models, quizzes and hands-on activities, while researchers will find rich resources in the library and archives.

Stunning Situation
Wonderful stay, stunning view from our room of the isle of sky. All staff were excellent. Food excellent, good choice, very good & quick service from pleasant dining staff. Our room, we upgraded to a sea view, was comfortable, slightly in need of an update, but was well serviced daily, so no complaints. Would recommend this Hotel very much, Thank You, all staff for a very enjoyable holiday.

Fantastic!
We were very dubious about this – if it went wrong, we were a long way from home. Our first time with Shearings! However, the pick-up and journey were well organised. The overnight hotel in Cumbria A+++, but best of all was the Gairloch Hotel! There was not one complaint. The food was great, the room excellent and the location and view to die for!

Gairloch Hotel is the Best
I went on my second visit to the Gairloch in August and as usual we didn’t want to leave. From Tony the manager to the brilliant waiting staff they make your holiday so relaxing and welcoming. The hotel is spotless, the food delightful, staff amazing, already booked another holiday there same time next year.
