Anyone with an interest in historical structures will fine the Eastbourne Redoubt a fascinating visit. Built at the start of the 19th Century, it was a military defence post designed to stop Napoleon's forces, and was used again during the First World War as both a headquarters and a jail. Parts have since been converted into leisure facilities but these have since closed – yet the historic interest still remains.
