Pleasant Surprise

What a lovely room we had overlooking the abbey so clean and super beds, a few drawers would be beneficial. Staff in all areas brilliant, service in restaurant and bars excellent [hard workers] .The receptionists were so kind and helpful offering to freeze my ice packs for an injured back, so sorry had to cut short my stay but in a lot of pain so better to get home, need to come back as didn’t get the chance to go into Whitby town, hope to see you soon and to enjoy all the food that you serve.

Best location in Whitby

We enjoyed our perfect view from our standard excellent value room. The staff are very well trained, helpful and polite. Our only disappointment was the quality of the food. After reading the enticing menu the food was far from enjoyable. Cold plates with barely warm food. Overdone hard gougons and the "Ham and eggs" came as a shock as a picture of thick grilled ham and perfect poached egg was shattered by a rubber hard-boiled egg on a thin slice of COLD cheap picnic ham on cold toast.

Our home from home...

We have just had another holiday at the Royal in Whitby...the entire weekend was excellent. As usual the staff were superb....nothing too much trouble and always service with a smile and this covered the entire hotel staff in all positions! I would like to say that the waiter who looked after us on table 44 was excellent and he completely represented your hotel in his attitude and demeanour! We don`t think you will be beaten on value for money and will heartily recommend you to all and sundry.

Lovely Place

I have already posted a good review in trip advisor I just wanted to comment on your own website. Vikki you have a lovely hotel and should be really proud of yourself and your team I was particularly impressed with Maria our waitress for the week we stayed and her boss Maria was always smiling happy and couldn’t do enough for us a right hard worker she was. All I will ask is please look into the laws and regs about charging extra for lime in lager and lime I’m sure it’s against weights and measure.

Brilliant

Just had a 4 day break staying at "The Royal" with a group of friends, we all drove to the hotel in our own cars on an all inclusive package. I can only speak for my own experience and to say I could not fault it whatsoever. The room was fully refurbished recently and was 1st class. The food was excellent as were the staff serving it. The menu covered most tastes and the quality was excellent. After evening meal the entertainment started with Bingo followed by excellent entertainment. 10/10

Fantastic Weekend

We joined a Shearings holiday coach from Scotland. The driver's name was Paul. He was lovely and we had a great journey and a lovely drive over the Yorkshire Moors on Saturday. The Royal Hotel Whitby was just great and we all had a lovely time there. Staff were very attentive and friendly, entertainment every night was great and the food was good. It was great value for money and our rooms overlooked the beach and the Abbey ruins of Whitby. Hope Shearings do this trip again. Thanks again.

The views from this hotel are amazing!!!!! Our room over looked all of the bay and we could see the beach and Whitby Abbey.... The rooms were okay, a bit outdated, the TV was rubbish, didn’t work....and the bathrooms had no fans....was a nightmare when showering. Beds were comfy. The food wasn’t amazing but was quiet nice. The free entertainment was nice. Front service staff weren’t that friendly though.

The staff were really good the food was excellent but oh the room was really a let down there were no room upgrades left but the rooms should be better than this for a standard rooms Sorry to have to write this we use you a number of times throughout the year and we were disappointed.

What an excellent stay

Me and my partner stayed here on the 11th to the 13th August and we were not disappointed. The whole stay was fantastic, helped by the hard working and polite staff who worked nonstop to ensure our stay was to our satisfaction. All staff including the chamber maids, bar and restaurant, reception and any others I may have missed are a credit to the hospitality industry, thank you to you all.

What a great weekend

Decided on a break to beautiful Whitby, and lined up a great weekend at the Royal. From the moment we arrived the staff (particularly Susan) couldn't have been more attentive. The restaurant was well conducted - food and Service excellent - made particularly enjoyable by Lubomir, our waiter. A good choice of starters, mains & desserts ensured satisfaction. The evening entertainment was enjoyable with quizzes, cabaret and dancing on that menu. Great value for money - would go again in an instant.

Weekend Break

Stayed here from the 1st July for three days very lucky with the weather as a gorgeous weekend. The hotel was in a great position and staff were all very attentive. Downside for me was the lift very tiny and the carpet was in need of replacement. Preferred to walk up and down the stairs. The food was ok and the service in the restaurant was excellent. Our room was overlooking the sea an extra but well worth it. Good size and comfy beds a very old TV but guess this will be replaced soon.

A Very Good Hotel

We stayed for three nights. Self drive. Had a good time. The restaurant was run very efficiently, nothing was too much trouble. We paid for a sew view which was great, but as my only complaint with the hotel was the uncomfortable bed (springs sticking out). You may be better advised to upgrade on the bedroom instead. Take the walk along the sea front to Sandsend and enjoy a cherry scone with cream at the cafe at the end, lovely. Enjoy. We did.

Great location

Great location, catering excellent and room was nice, clean and tidy. Only minor criticism is that the walkway at the front of the hotel could do with a scrub. I didn’t do the tours so can’t comment on them (as I’d been to the area before and preferred to go walking, as there are so many great walks nearby. I would recommend this hotel.

Great Hotel

We stayed at this hotel for 5 days. Great hotel, the staff were all very helpful. The food was ok, the breakfast was the best, it was sad they could not source the fish locally as the fish and chips were like something from Iceland’s. The cook needs to look into this, especially as it is a fishing town. The compere in the evening (Bradley Walsh lookalike) was great, very good entertainer. Our coach driver, Mike was very helpful and knowledgeable. On the whole, a great break away at Whitby. Recommended.
