Local Insight

Scarborought has been welcoming visitors for many years and has a number of attractions to offer

  • Scarborough Castle
With over 2,500 years of turbulent history behind it, Scarborough Castle defends a prominent headland between the north and south bays, with sheer drops to the sea. Before the castle was built, this natural fortress was favoured by prehistoric settlers before serving as a Roman signal station and Viking haven. This spectacular castle has also endured sieges from medieval kings and Civil War armies, and German naval bombardment during WWII. Today you can climb to the battlement viewing platforms for dramatic coastline views, and take tea in the 18th-century Master Gunner's House.

Norbreck Hotel

Hotel staff friendly, bar decorated very nice and clean and dining room clean and good views over bay. The food was not at its best never heard of scrambled eggs without using the yolk very stingy with food. Our room was nice had recently been decorated and good view over north bay but bathroom let room down very tired looking crack in basin taps very worn soap dish had not been cleaned. The bus trips to York and Whitby was very good and our driver Kevin was excellent his knowledge top notch.

Well Done Chef

We went in May 2013. I would like to say the food was great, well done to the chef his food was always well cooked and a very good choice, his chief’s special at dinner were always a good surprise. We had a waiter called Marios and you could not fault him, he served so well and always with a lovely smile. Lovely sea views from dining room, rooms very clean and well equipped. All in all a great holiday.

Fabulous Hotel

A party of 4 friends stayed at the Norbreck for 3 nights. We found the rooms spotless. The meals were brilliant with a really good choice of menu. The bar service was first class and the entertainment each evening was brilliant. All the staff were very helpful and always polite. We would have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel. Many thanks for a fabulous weekend.

Good Value for money

This is our 2nd holiday with C&C. The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I am coeliac and was catered for very well, food in general was very good. Room was comfortable but could of been cleaner, cobwebs on ceiling and grout in shower very black and mouldy. Would like to visit again but will be trying a different C&C hotel next. Thank you to all the staff for a very pleasant stay.

Bay Norbreck Hotel

My wife and I stayed at the Bay Norbreck and was pleased with the service we got and the food was of a good quality, but found that the pleasant and efficient staff run off their feet especially at meal times where staggered sittings would have alleviated it, the entertainment was fine and the all inclusive deal with the beer helped when it came to bedtime as our room was next to the lift and we were disturbed every time somebody entered the lift and there was a hum from a motor all night thus no sleep.
