The Esplanade hotel is a pleasant hotel ideally situated and set on a level seafront position just a short walk to the sandy beach, picturesque harbour, pier, shops and brand new cinema. Paignton is right in the heart of Torbay and is an ideal resort for all ages as well as a great base from which to explore South Devon and the surrounding area. Within the hotel, the south facing Sun Lounge and Harbour Bar Lounge offer stunning views across ‘the Bay’ and the attractive Riviera Suite provides a warm and friendly atmosphere to enjoy the entertainment. The Esplanade also offers the opportunity to upgrade your standard room to one with a sea view (charges apply) and the stunning view on a sunny day is certainly worth it!

Paignton is located right in the heart of the English Riviera, with its twenty two miles of ever changing coastline. Paignton is a smaller, quieter resort crammed full of activities for sheer holiday enjoyment.
By Car:
After leaving the M5, continue along the A380, following signs for Torquay, Paignton. On approach into Paignton, follow signs for the Sea Front, Harbour. The hotel is located on the corner of The Esplanade and Sands Road, on the right hand side opposite the Harbour. AA Roadwatch 09003 401100.
By Train:
Paignton railway station is situated about 500 yards from the hotel. Some trains change at Exeter or Newton Abbott. (Rail Enquiries to 08457 484950).
National Express:
Services to Paignton, stopping 500 yards from the hotel. (National Rail Enquiries 08705 808080).
By Bus:
Stagecoach number 12 run between Torquay, Paignton and Newton Abbott and X46 between Torquay and Exeter. First Western number X80 runs between Plymouth and Paignton.

I have been to this hotel several times. Booking was easy, given our favourite room. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food was really good, with choices. Rooms very clean. As I am slightly disabled, Paignton is very easy to walk around. There is plenty to see in the area. Entertainment most nights. An excellent holiday each time!

This is an excellent hotel with friendly obliging staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms, in places, are a bit small. But, it is an old hotel and best efforts have been made to add en suites to all the rooms. Food in the restaurant is excellent with many choices on offer. Best efforts are made to accommodate guests. Entertainment most nights in the Riviera suite and nice lounge bar to relax in. This may not be a 5* hotel, but not 5* prices and definitely 5* staff.

We had a wonderful New Year’s Eve break here. The welcome was warm, as was the temperature in the hotel. The entertainment was great, despite the reluctance of some of the guests to join in, but you always get them! The food was fantastic and so were the staff. We will definitely return.

Good hotel. All the staff are very pleasant and helpful. Room very clean and tidy, food excellent and plentiful. I think excellent value for money. Only down side is that the entertainment is poor and the lift wasn’t working. I’ll be going again in September.

This is a wonderful hotel, came here many years ago, loved it then and it is still a good choice. Lovely food, rooms are very clean, we had entertainment every night which was a bonus for us and the staff were very obliging and friendly. A lovely holiday all round!

We stayed here for a week and it was absolutely lovely. The room was big and decorated lovely, there was a big wardrobe in the room, bigger than Narnia! There was a big dressing table with a big mirror. The food wasn’t bad; the staff were lovely and very friendly. A great hotel for 2 star.

We came for a short weekend break for my wife’s birthday and it was really good. The room was fine, very clean and well appointed for the price we paid, but bathroom could do with a little more shelf space for toiletries etc. The food was very good and varied to suit all tastes and the evening entertainment was great. Will definitely return, may be not her, but happy to try other Bay Hotels.

We are about to return to the Esplanade for a weekend break, and we can honestly say that we look forward to going there. We originally stayed at the Esplanade because we had relatives in the area, but we have enjoyed our stays so much that we just want to go back and soak up the atmosphere again. It’s great value for money and wonderfully warm atmosphere.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was good, a good choice of menu, something to please everyone. The entertainment could have been better but some things can’t be perfect all the time but a good effort. Very good value.

Here in the Esplanade Hotel one cannot find a more caring helpful staff either in this country or abroad and I have travelled to many places. One only has to ask any member of staff about anything whatsoever and believe you me they do their utmost to accommodate your request. I’ve recommended this hotel to many friends and they totally agree what a happy, friendly comfy hotel it is they also agreed that the menus are really good as is the food. I'm so looking forward to my next visit with them.

Wonderful Hotel, clean, good food and selection, waiter MARIUS outstanding, ANDY at the desk when holiday over excellent and helpful with luggage to car. Entertainment live and very good but a bit too loud for myself. All the staff excellent and helpfull. Highly recommend to any who wish a good no hassle Holiday. Double room with two single beds recommended as the double bed rooms very small, but one only needs it to sleep? Last, I wish to thank all at the hotel for giving me a pleasant Holiday.

First visit to this hotel will certainly be back again. Food was excellent and all the staff were so helpful. The Hotel is in a great position opposite the beach and a sort walk to the shopping centre. Worth a lot more than just 2 stars should be at least 4 stars.
