Our Stay

To all concerned thanks for a great week. I can recommend this hotel for those of you who want a relaxing time. The rooms are comfortable and each have their own character as you would expect from a building of its age. We found the leisure facilities excellent, the food was more than adequate. Friendly staff and local people who use the leisure complex. Hopefully we will be back soon.

Good Value

We had a good time, very good value, nice comfortable room, needs an up to date TV though everything else was great. The staff were friendly and helpful, I would like to mention Hilda on reception thank you. The pool was lovely, not too many hotels have this facility and it was all in with your stay, plus we had breakfast and evening meal, so this was very good for the price we paid. Many thanks to all at the Eden. We look forward to next year when we stay again.

Great Value

I had a lovely 4 night break at this hotel through Shearings. It's not cutting edge modern, more sort of well maintained vintage which I prefer and is very in vogue anyway! The staff were super friendly and genuinely welcomed any queries. I especially loved the fitness area because it was clean and had a bit of everything. The pool was big enough to get a good swim in, the steam room perfect for a deep cleanse, the gym had enough machinery to get a good workout and a TV to watch while you're doing it and the Jacuzzi had the strongest bubble effect I have ever experienced! I was in there every day and it sparked of a health kick when I got home. Every meal was enjoyable and served really quickly considering the amount of people there. Great country walks nearby if you walk to the other side of the village. This isn't a five star hotel but it is incredibly good value for money and probably a lot friendlier :)

Ran out of space to say "Thank You All"

Couldn't fit all our comments on previous review. Thank you Russell, Mandy, Beatrice, Becky, Neil, Brett, Susan, and everyone else whose names we didn't manage to remember. You are all wonderful, and made us feel so very welcome. Your kindness won't be forgotten, and we will try to come up to see you all, as soon as we are able. You all went far beyond the call of duty, and we are so very very grateful. Thank you so much! Will definitely recommend The Eden Arms! Brilliant!!!!

Hospitality at it's best!

We can't speak too highly of our stay at The Eden Arms. The hotel was full of character and lots of original features, and we enjoyed a very spacious, comfortable and warm en-suite room. The food was very tasty and well presented, and the portions were good. In the early hours of our departure morning, Derek was rushed into hospital and diagnosed with a stroke. We thought all the staff were great before this happened, but the kindness and help we received from everyone was truly unbelievable!

Very enjoyable 4 night stay

Lovely comfortable clean hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Our room was very spacious and cosy, the bed was also comfortable. The food was also very good with plenty of choice, When my husband wasn't too well one evening they offered to send a meal up to him, but I asked if he could just have cheese and biscuits, the waitress came back with a lovely presented plate which he really enjoyed. The pool and spa was a bonus. We would certainly come back to this hotel, it was really good value.

1st timer at Bay Hotels, superb

Had a wonderful weekend break here last weekend. Rooms were spotless, very comfortable, beds were a dream to sleep in, Food was of a very high standard, compliments to the chef. Service in restaurant very good (thank you Brett). Entertainment on Friday/Saturday was good. Decor needs updating and showers were almost impossible to control, either hot or cold could not get a happy medium. Other than that I would HIGHLY recommend to all. Thank you Eden Bay for a great weekend.

Another good Bay Hotel

Just back from a weekend stay at the Eden Arms Hotel, Durham. Had a very enjoyable weekend. Very nice room, clean and spacious, lovely food with a very varied menu, good entertainment on Fri and Sat. Overall had a very good stay and had a lovely waiter named Brett. Couple of negatives, hotel a bit tired and in need of a spruce up and showers in bedroom bathroom were very very difficult to control (either scalding hot of luke warm). However this did not spoil our overall experience.

1st Timer

Had a great weekend staying at the Eden Arms we had a lovely spacious room which was really nice and also spotless. It was also nice to see such cheerful, friendly and helpful staff especially the girl on the bar. We had a 1st class entertainer on the Friday, I think he was called Nicky Martin. Compliments must also go to the chefs the food was very good, Hope to return again soon.

Better then expected

We read some very unkind reviews about this hotel before we went and was dreading it. So glad we ignored them, room was very comfortable, lots of space and lovely en suite. Parents also catered for on the ground floor. Food was good and portion sizes just right. Staff were friendly in particular Susan in the restaurant. The manager made a point of talking to his guests for feedback on the hotel. Excellent value for money would definitely revisit and recommend to others.

Spring Visit to Durham

Had a comfortable stay here in April, large room and good food. We were in easy driving distance from the park-and-ride facility, which was free to oldies with bus-passes and saved the hassle of taking a car into Durham. I would recommend it to others.
