Bay Torbay Hotel, Torquay

Booked last minute great price, great room, great position, and great reception staff. only let down was breakfast very rude waitress didn’t ask what eggs we would like didn’t ask if liked white or brown toast said we couldn’t have orange juice and corn flakes only one or other Probably come to hotel again but eat out next time to avoid waitresses bad attitude.

We have just returned from a 5 day stay at this hotel, this was our first time here. From the outside it looked good, the public areas are very nice, but when we got to the room my jaw dropped, this was a standard room?. The carpet is badly stained, the mirror in the bathroom is only held on 1 of the 4 sides (not very safe), and a very nice round hole in the bathroom wall??. The window is rotten and there is no paint left on the bottom part of the window. ( Room 223 ) .

Just packing for my 4th stay at the Hotel. My yearly present from my dad. I arrived with my son and this time hubby coming too. We cannot fault this Hotel at all. Clean, friendly and the staff will go out of their way to please. Food is great and dining room staff are all very polite. Always have Harbour facing room. How lucky are we. Can’t wait to arrive on Friday for yet another fab weekend.

Hotel was close to seafront, all staff were helpful. Are room was spotless, nothing was a problem for the housekeeper she was very good. Food was good. It will not be long till we go back THANK YOU TO ALL STAFF AT THE TORBAY.

Yet another smashing weekend at this well positioned hotel right on the seafront but close to the town centre. Frequent bus services from immediately outside the hotel make getting around very easy. Good food served by a hard working and happy waitress, quickly served. Despite being mobility impaired I have found the hotel relatively easy to get around. My good sized bedroom, situated immediately opposite the lift on the 3rd floor was easy to access. See you all soon again, well done.

2nd Shearings trip and won’t be the last. Hotel in need of a bit TLC but the staff made up for any inperfections. They looked after us, nothing was a problem for them. For the price our room was spotless and the shower perfect and a sea view to boot, Entertainment first class and food very tasty, Would recommend to any one for a battery recharge, Found the journey long but well worth it THANKS TO ALL AT THE TORBAY :):) 

We really enjoyed our midweek break at the Torbay hotel, last March. As with most of the Bay hotels, because of their age, the standard rooms require some TLC. But ours was clean and well appointed. The hotel was conveniently placed for all of Torquay’s many amenities. All of the staff were helpful and courteous. The food was well presented and highly enjoyable. The public rooms were newly refurbished and comfortable, with excellent evening entertainment. My wife and I would certainly return.

Hotel very clean - food good with a good choice - restaurant very small - our waitress was rush, rush, rush we had to speak to her in the end (my husband is disabled) - free glass of wine with meal and 4 free drinks to use throughout the day - entertainment good - Thursdays was the best - bedroom had plenty of space and a good bathroom. We would go again had a good break.

Went to this hotel with Shearings coaches, for New Year celebrations. My party was very pleased with the food, lots of choice, very good. There was only one thing that spoiled our stay, the state of the bedrooms, they are very tired looking and in need of decorating, but the worst was the cleanliness, not very good at all. The bathroom with mould all round the shower and sink taps were a disgrace. It was a shame that this put a damper on our otherwise enjoyable stay.

Paid an additional £15.00 each for sea view which was pointless as it was obscured by trees, the paintwork & decor in bedroom was tired also the lighting in the room very poor, the staff very friendly & the food very good with excellent service all in all we enjoyed our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Torbay Hotel. We had a fabulous front facing bedroom which was well worth the extra supplement. Food was always hot and well presented with a good choice. The staff, the service and the cabaret entertainment was excellent. The indoor heated pool was a bonus and the water was lovely and warm. Very much looking forward to returning in 2012 but this time we’ll be staying longer!

Went to the Torbay Hotel for a five day trip on 25/04/11. Lovely hotel with lots of character, staff very friendly, food was excellent and the waitress fantastic. We had the second biggest room on level two, front facing over the harbour and was lovely and clean. The coach driver was fantastic, kept us informed on the journey and excursions. Had a great couple on our table at meal times who sat with us on the coach, good laugh, really enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

I stayed at the Torbay Hotel in January 2011 and I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The food is very swift in its delivery and well presented and the bar is well stocked, often offering good deals. The standard room I had was clean, tidy and well-looked after and the house keeper made every effort to take note of the ‘do not disturb’ sign when it was in use, unlike some of the hotels I have stayed in!

My wife and I stayed at the Torbay Hotel in the summer and found it to be a pleasant experience. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms need a bit of an update, but they were clean and comfortable and the housekeeping staff were very pleasant. The food was excellent and well presented. Couldn’t wait to come back, so we booked again for November.

Went to this hotel with Shearing's coach.  Hotel is lovely, it is on the flat too. The local buses leave from just across the road, which was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful, couldn’t fault them. Food was excellent, with quite a choice of menu. Hotel was very clean, we had a front facing room and it was lovely. We will certainly go to this hotel again.

I spent 4 nights at the hotel and had a great time, both the hotel and staff were wonderful. The only down side was the journey down there. Having gone with Shearing's, I had to travel from Kent to the m1 interchange on the feeder coach, which added about 2hours to the journey. But, this was more than made up for by the staff at the hotel. The food was great, as were all the staff and the hotel which was very close to the seafrount. This was great value for money and I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks!!

It was a last minute deal with Shearing’s. As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by the deputy manager. All of the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. The waiters were quick and met all of your needs. The hotel itself has had a lot of modernising done to the interior. All rooms were clean and tidy, with a wide range of facilities. There was a good range of food to choose from morning and night. The food was always lovely and could not be faulted in any way. A very pleasant stay.
